Lesson Outline

The lesson starts by eliciting prior knowledge about democracy. What do students/pupils think democracy is and can they influence it somehow? Then the animation is shown. It explains how fragile a democracy is and students/pupils learn that equal rights, freedom and democracy cannot be taken for granted. During a discussion after the animation has been shown, students/pupils are encouraged to approach democracy in a critical manner. Do students feel engaged or involved in democracy? What, in their opinion, are the imperfections of democracy?
